Harmony & Health

Supporting people and organisations to navigate workplace conflict, trauma, change, psychosocial injury, stress, and overall wellbeing.

Trauma-informed care for healthcare, emergency services, education, caring professions, individuals undergoing treatment, and their families

Supporting people, when work or life causes harm
Helping people recover, restore balance, and thrive at work and in life

Welcome to Harmony & Health, a space dedicated to people and their wellbeing.  The support you need, when you need it.

With updated psychosocial legislation in place, providing trauma-informed support for people who have been impacted by workplace conflict, bullying, lack of support, and the cumulative stress that comes with caring and high-pressure roles, it is important to offer people and teams the support they need to not only achieve, but thrive and succeed in the workplace by someone who "gets-it" and has experience working on the floor, in the community, within the environment.

Hi, I'm Lisa

Meet Lisa

I don't just help with healthcare and caring professions - I've been there,
working alongside them.

For more than 20 years, my work has always been grounded in compassion, realism, and deep respect for the people who do the hardest jobs, and their families. I am a Registered Nurse with a Master's degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy, and a Provisional Psychologist. I have worked on the floor as a nurse, in the community alongside police and emergency services, taught within universities and rural academic institutions, worked within major hospitals in emergency, as a clinical lead across services including mental health, drug and alcohol, suicide prevention, and employee assistance programs (EAP). I understand the realities of high-pressure roles - the complexity, the exposure, the culture, and the impact that workplace conflict, trauma, and cumulative stress can have on both work and life.  I get it!

I don't just work with healthcare and caring professions - I've been there, working alongside them. I have supported emergency services personnel through workplace conflict, navigating difficult processes toward resolution, and walked with people who have carried the weight of traumatic events and demanding roles to the point where they have felt there was no way forward. I have delivered wellness programs, sessions, and ongoing support, to staff and their families, and now bring this work together through Harmony and Health. I have sat with teams through trauma incidents, alongside Police and Ambulance teams, with families post events, and with people who have difficulty understanding their colleagues, roles, or goals.  No single issue is too small, but it is significant to that person.  People matter.

Whether it is sitting with a person who needs to feel heard, supported, and safe, or partnering with organisations to support their people through meaningful, trauma-informed wellbeing sessions or programs, my approach is practical, grounded, and human. I meet people where they are - because I truly understand the work, the demands, the feelings, and truly understand the work they do and the impact it can have.  There is no better connection than someone who can help, gets it, and can truly relate.

How We Support People and Workplaces:

At Harmony & Health Counselling, we offer a specialised service that includes;

  • Trauma-informed counselling: Support to those impacted by workplace conflict, bullying, harassment, and psychological injury.  Support is available for individuals, teams, and their families, recognising the flow-on effects workplace stress can have on personal life, relationships, and overall wellbeing.  A focus on understanding these impacts and developing practical, sustainable pathways toward recovery and balance is offered.

  • Grief and Loss: Navigating loss - Loss of a role, identity, colleagues, teams, familiar environments, and personal grief or loss.  Grief is not limited to death and may arise from change, transition, or psychological injury.  Care focuses on healing, resilience, safely journeying through stages, and restoring wellbeing.

  • Challenges in Coping: Understanding why people cope in various ways. Understanding why people can rely on short-term relief strategies but create longer-term difficulties. Identifying maladaptive coping strategies including substance use, avoidance, or emotional withdrawal and supporting the development of safer, adaptive coping and recovery methods.

  • Support: Offering a safe space for individuals, teams at all levels, and their families to work through concerns. Support for people experiencing burnout, compassion fatigue, moral injury, and work-related distress.  Support for individuals living with health challenges, carers, and family members affected by illness, stress, or trauma.

  • Wellbeing Sessions: Structured to meet psychosocial requirements in the workplace, offering proactive, evidence-based approaches to identify, manage, and mitigate risks that can cause psychological harm and address systemic workplace factors such as excessive workload, role demands, and support structures. Sessions focus on identifying organisational and individual stressors, and offer practical, evidence-based solutions to support sustainable wellbeing.

  • Leadership Sessions: Workshops to support leaders to strengthen workplace culture, build trust, and foster high-performing teams with a focus on psychologically safe leadership practices that aim to create safe, respectful, and sustainable workplaces.

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP):  Counselling and ongoing staff support, education, and assistance offered on-site at your organisation, in person, or via telehealth nationally.

Managing trauma, maladaptive coping, and 'Self'

Healing trauma asks us to do more than just address past pain; it invites us to rediscover who we are beyond it.

  • How trauma affects your thoughts, emotions, and body.

  • Developing healthier coping strategies to replace maladaptive ones.

  • Rebuilding relationships with confidence and clarity, and developing your true self.

It’s common for unresolved trauma to manifest as anxiety, fatigue, immune issues, substance use, or aggression. Sometimes, coping strategies such as avoidance, alcohol and other drugs, or challenges with relationships become ways to manage the thoughts and feelings of trauma.

Drawing upon evidence-based research, I offer a compassionate space to explore your unique way of experiencing and coping with trauma, workplace stress, and anxiety. We'll uncover how these individual patterns can sometimes lead to avoidance or maladaptive coping styles that feel stuck or overwhelming when you're navigating them on your own.

My approach gently guides you towards safety, awareness, and renewed trust in your own strengths.

“Only making it safe for trauma victims to inhabit their bodies, and to tolerate feeling what they feel, and knowing what they know, can lead to lasting healing.

This may involve a range of therapeutic interventions, one size never fits all”

(Van Der Kolk, 2014).
